My friend,

The connectthedot.mbx only connect point which are selected. we cannot directly
connect all point based on selected columns.

For example

pt long lat line
1 x1 y1 A
2 X2 Y2 A
3 X3 Y3 A
4 X4 Y4 B
5 X5 Y5 B
6 X6 Y6 B

We can not directly connect all point 1,2,3 (based on line column into line A)
and point 4,5,6 (based on line column into line B). If we will connect the
point we should select all point based on column A first and use
coonectthedot.mbx tool and then select it again to connect b line, it will take
a lot of energy. Imagine i have 50 line which i should connect.

Wilfred,

You might want to check out this utility which creates lines/polylines from
points - http://www.directionsmag.com/files/index.php/view/180.

I'm not sure it will do exactly what you want (you might have to do some
query's based on the line series column) though.

Greg Driver.
