Thanks to Martin & David for clearing this up...it was fairly simple if not 
obvious...

Convert the polygons to polyline and then re-convert to region (on the objects 
menu), the centroid will be reset to the expected position.

Hi Mathieu,

Try the following:
1. Select your polygons for editing
2. Choose Objects >> Convert to Polylines
3. Choose Objects >> Convert to Polygons

It's a bit quirky, I know, but this method effectively regenerates the polygons 
and updates the polygon centroids according to MapInfo's standard algorithm.  I 
can't recall exactly what this algorithm is, but a search through the archives 
should turn up something.  I'm sure I read about it here once...
