I think MapInfo's object manipulation really exercises the chip and runs it hot. Ever Since 6.5 or 7.0 I've noticed that any prolonged operation with MapInfo on my old AMD Athlon (256MB RAM running Win98) will always crash resulting in a Blue Screen of Death. It won't reboot properly until I power down and it cools off. I should probably install an extra fan, but the machine's really too old to fuss with anyway. However, I suspect that over-heating is something to be aware of with MapInfo, so if you buy a new machine, don't go cheap on the cooling fan(s). - Bill Thoen --------------------------------------------------------------------- List hosting provided by Directions Magazine | www.directionsmag.com | To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message number: 15757
