It may also be caused by hyperthreading technology of your motherboard, which (as far as I understand) makes your CPU behave like two processors. This boosts performance when running several processes simultaneously, but sometimes slows down when running only a single process. Applications must support hyperthreading to take full advantage of it, MapInfo doesn't so far. You can disable hyperthreading in BIOS.

Can anyone in the list tell me if MapInfo/Window Xp pro has a restrictions on CPU usage. I'm currently working a large file with is taking over an hour to complete a selection process.
