I have about 50 geologic maps to put into Map Info. The geologic data (formation boundaries, faults, folds, and strike and dip info) is hand inked on paper USGS 7-1/2 min quads. Any recommendations on the best way to do this (work flow)? I have a large digitizer (4x5 foot) and access to a new 36 inch wide color roll scanner. I need to have the formation boundaries entered both as lines and polyogons.
Can I use mapinfo to digitize from a scanned image (tiff, jpeg, etc), or will it only work with a digitizing tablet? I also have a program called didger that is quite useful for digitizing. Can I use that program to digitize the lines, etc. and then transfer the data to mapinfo (as long as I also digitize reference points for the coords)? Any guidence would be appreciated.
