Hi Hope you can help with an instillation problem I have with
MapInfo 7.5. I was setting up a new PC and chose to do a full install of MI 7.5 Professional. This
worked ok (I have now done this more than once as a test). This caused the documented error of MIDLOCI.DLL causing an
error in the load of Mapinfo.mnu – this is easy to fix by deleting the
offending dll file which is for connection to Oracle. However the consequence of this is that MapInfo now freezes
when you ask it to do anything complex or bring up a dialog box, or the results
of a query – results in an endless loop at 100 cpu load. I have fully uninstalled more than once, deleted every entry
in the registry I can find and still it does not work. If you install with a “typical”
setup on a pc for the first time everything appears to work fine – it appears
to be something to do with the FULL install and once done you cannot undo. I have even tried going back to 6.5 on an affected machine
with no joy. Any clues or experience would be gratefully received.
