That's what it means. The canonical US street address is number, prefix 
direction, street name, street type, suffix direction, and unit number. 
The classic ugly address is 123 E E E St. = 123E East E Street. But they 
can be weird in other ways, to wit:

2308 S. St. - Street name can look like a pre-directional

19 West Blue Valley Rd - Is pre-dir "West" or is street name "West Blue 
Valley?"

Simple geocoding in plain MapInfo requires that your addresses EXACTLY 
match the street names in the street table.

Commercial grade geocoders like MapMarker use all kinds of extra 
techniques for matching addresses to the database and allow for more fuzzy 
spelling of addresses. Of course, you pay a little more for the 
convenience! ;-)
