Hi Paul We do a lot of work with HTML and have found editing the Source Code inside the web-browser a reasonably effective way of dealing with content and style changes to the heading, removing the gap between the heading and the map, etc. (Go to View->Source in Internet Explorer and it will open the HTML in NotePad view).
Not sure if this is any more effective than your current DreamWeaver solution but it has worked well for us. Happy to provide more info if required.
