Thanks to all those who replied to my problem which was:

We have an HP pocket PC running Mobile mapper with a haicom GPS unit
plugged in and all functions as expected. The problem is with a Compaq
Pocket PC with Mobile mapper loaded and a haicom GPS unit. Mobile mapper
works fine on the unit but the Haicon GPS just wont give any indications
that it is communicating. Every possible configurable option has been
check and played with to no avail.

The problem appears to be that the Compaq unit only has provision for 4
com Ports and the Haicom GPS is trying to use Com 7. There doesn't seem
to be any resolution to the problem. As Lars put it: Hopefully Compaq
have improved their PC building skills since ...... The problem wasn't
the external unit, it was the disabled port. Maybe something similar is
causing you grief, it being a Compaq

So thanks again.
