Wilfred, There are 28 different Grid systems and zones that cover Libya; that also includes a half-dozen different datums. Based on the assumption that you know what you're doing; the Zone 12 of the Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya Gauss-Kruger Transverse Mercator projection on the European 1950 Datum has the following parameters: Central Meridian = 23� 00' 00" East of Greenwich Latitude of Origin = Equator Scale Factor at Origin = 0.9999 False Easting = 200,000 False Northing = nil This system has been in use since 1974. Note that the reference ellipsoid is the International 1924, but it is NOT a spheroid. (There is no astrogeodetic deflection geoid computed for that region, and therefore it does not have a spheroid, it only has an ellipsoid.) Regards, Clifford J.
