Thanks for answering, but I am sorry to say that it did not solve the problem. 
I have tried using file:// and file:///. Both works just fine when it comes to 
linking to the document itself (think it even works without file:/// too). The 
problem is still there though, it cuts the anchor off when opening the htmlfile 
in Internet explorer!

Any other suggestions?

Hi,

I don't know if you copy-pasted file:// instead of file:///

If I have a index.html file in my C:\ path, I would make a link to it
as: file:///C:/index.html
