I haven't got this update, but I find it very good news that legends are
left centered, especially for the thematic maps. When the title of the
legend is large and the legend is centered, the main body of the legend
get shifted far away from the left border. When you have several thematics
maps, you can never align the main body of the legend across different
maps on the same page, because it is always dependant on the width of the
title. That was a silly choice. The only workaround to this stupid
behavior was to keep the title line empty and to add a title directly in
the layout. But that was a bad workaround, because the title was no more
linked to the legend and the thematic layer. So I find the new update
makes sense.
Why they didn't add an option allowing to choose between left/center/right
aligned legend I can't understand, because different people have different
needs, as your question shows.

Objet : MI-L Legend Alignments
I just installed MI Pro 8.0. All of my legends are now left justified
instead of centered. I know this is new and surely MapInfo has an easy
way to get back to centered legends--I JUST CAN'T FIND IT. I do not
think left justified looks good and all of the examples in the supplement
show left justified. Maybe I have been working too hard and everyone
else likes 'left justified'? Please help me find my way back to center,
the left scares me.
Thank you.
