I should point out, before you delete the tab and related files, make sure you have your geographical references updated in the table so you can recreate them. You may wish to create a copy here first and work with it untill you get it straightened out.

Cannot perform edit. Someone else is currently editing this table. I've found 2 references to this same problem in 2000 & 2003. I'm still using MapInfo & MapBasic 4.5 so not sure if anyone ever solved this by upgrading. Anyway, I have an Access 97 file which I want to open as a table. It's been working perfectly for 6 months. Today I added a 253 character text field to my Access table, and my MBX file crashed with the above error message. I've checked & double-checked, and even rebooted, but cannot for the life of me see how someone else can be editing my table. I've checked that the Access table has no LCK file. I've checked the MapInfo table that is created from the Access table & it has no TDA, TMA or TIN files lying around. I removed the new field from my Access table & tried running the MBX file again - works perfectly. Put it back in again but limited it to 50 characters in size - crashes as above again. Possibly I'm running into a limitation of MapInfo working with Access? I've only got 54 fields in total, and only 136 records. I'd really like to be able to add one more field to my table!
