Frank,
The trick is to use the Set Target to specify which object(s) to alter.
This is how to do it:
1. Make the layer with the region to to be cut editable
2. Select the region to cut
3. Select the menu item Objects > Set Target (Ctrl + T)
4. Select the region to cut with
5. Select the menu item
- Objects > Erase to erase the overlapping area
- Objects > Erase Outside to erase the not overlapping area

Subject: MI-L Region Overlap
Hi,
Does anyone know of a way to specify which region to have the overlap
subtracted or removed from? Example: I have two polygons with overlap and are
not equal in size - used the Clean Objects Tool to excise the overlap.
Unfortunately, I am removing the overlap from the wrong polygon - have tried
different options but to no avail. I am assuming that there is some mechanism
by which MI decides which polygon is going to lose the area. BR,
