Hi
State of the art is Streambuilder, but as all other hydrological tools, it
requires a reasonable good Digital height model and good is not accuracy,
but good drainage enforcement. Here the star is Anudem og Vertical Mapper
or Global Mapper for translating
One of the benefits of streambuilder is the options for building a drainage
network for only the visible part of the DHM and fast processing of small
areas (we are using it for that purpose is control of our environmentalk
monitoring stations).
But there is a lot ofg other tools and several is free. Taudem is one (but
the latest is closely related with ESRI/Arc), TapesG (a UNIX tool, but
again with a newer windows version closely related with ESRI/Arc) and then
there is PC raster from Utrect (a very advanced tool, but without GUI -
it's command or macro based)

drainage basins.=20
Thanks in advance,
