Hi Neil I found this problem as well, so I wrote a translator which translates the Topo, ITN and Address layers into MIF/MID format, with OS style feature colours etc. The topo layer is translated into separate poly, line, point, text etc layers. Download the latest version free from the Map Room website:
http://www.bodley.ox.ac.uk/guides/maps/translat.htm - along with a batch importer to import all topo layers at one go.
