Hi List,

I am trying to do some spatial analyses with Grids which should be made
using Vertical Mapper in MapInfo.
I have a topography tab which will be converted into grid using triangle
interpolation.
There is also some geological map which can be converted into grid using
vertical mapper--> region to Grid.

Now as I am trying to store cells data from topography and geological map
grid in some Matrix (arrays), I need to have both cells in topography and
geological grid identical. Lets say if there are 200 cells in topography
grid file, there must be 200 cells in geological grid file, and the x and y
coordinates of equivalent cells in each grid must be the same.

Now in order to get to this goal, I need to select a specific part of each
map, such as a rectangular polygon, and then convert the data from these
polygons into Grid format. Then I can say that all the cells in different
grids are equivalent.

One way of doing this is to have a cosmetic layer with a rectangular
polygon, then by trimming all the tab files, I will have a trimmed
topography and a trimmed geology tab file fitted in that polygon. Now it is
time to make the grid file.

Now when I make the interpolation for the topography tab, it makes a grid
file for me, but it is not covering the whole area of polygon, lets say it
is grid file of 80% of the polygon.

Now I am thinking of switching into Arcview, as I have heard in Arcview
there is an option during creating grid file asking the left lower and right
upper coordinates of the grid file. In this case any created grid file will
be related to a specific area.

Does anyone know if there is a way of doing this job in MapInfo by using any
sort of tricks?

Thanks a lot
Ali
