Tim,
You could link your polygon and line tables to Access, so that you could
display the objects in MI and view your data in Access at the same time.
They would be saved as an Access mdb, but still retain their objects. It
is when you open a "tab mdb" in Access and change things around that
won't always jive. Is this what you are asking?

Sorry, but that is not the case. You can have point objects existing
only in
Access. It is the lines and polygons which can not. And that is only in
MapInfo. I think I am right in saying that ArcGIS stores all of its
objects
in Access format if you do not have SDE or some other database. If it
isn't
ArcGIS then it is some other system I have come across recently. They
are
held as BLOGs, I think.

Regards, and thanks for all your help,

Tim

You can not have points (or any GIS objects) in a MSAccess database. If
you want a spatial datatype you must use Oracle Spatial or Spatialware
for MSSQL.

Dear All,

Probably a simple question.

I have sorted how to keep my data in MS Access and then get MapInfo to
connect and display it. This works fine for Access tables which just
have a single map point per record.

Does Access also support Line and Polygon objects, or do these objects
have to be kept in MapInfo and only the attributes in Access?

Thanks
