John,

Open up a mapbasic window in MapInfo and key-in "set coordsys ..." where ...
Can be:
"Earth Projection 20, 109, ""m"", 5.387638889, 52.156160556, 0.9999079,
155000, 463000"
To specify a particular coordsys to return calculation results in (such as
update centroidX(obj))
Or set coordsys <tablename> to set the calculation coordsys to be like the
table you point at.

When you've entered the command and pressed enter, it seems nothing happens,
but every coordinate function will now return the new systems results.

Good luck!

Subject: MI-L retrieving co-ordinates different from current projection

Dear all,

Thanks for sorting my last easting northing table formatting question out. A
follow on from this is that now I have my data points mapped out on a map in
a British co-ordinate system (easting northing co-ordinate projection), I
would like to be able to look at points on the map and read what the NGR is
as well. I have found the options for looking at the cursor in the current
projection, is there a way of viewing this in alternative projections? So
far it seems that I need to remove all raster images and save in a different
projection but then I lose my OS map and so locating the positions that I
want the NGR for becomes a tad tricky?

I can see that in the future being able to extract Easting/Northing data
from a table and either externally converting to an NGR or being able to
extract it directly as NGR points would be very useful - but how?

Hope you can help
