Hi Torben, Generally, one should avoid editing the TAB file(set) directly, unless you're absolutely sure you know what you're doing. It's like editing the Windows registry.
If the table crashes MIPro while opening, there's presumably something wrong with it. Aren't you getting any eror messages ? If not, it's most likely not something you can fix yourself anyway. If it has to do with errornous charsets - as you suggest, try to see if any of these approaches will get you further : - open the table with a browser window instead of the default mapper, and browse the content looking for questionable characters - open the table windows-less, and open a mapper manually, and see whether this alters anything - export it to MIF/MID, and examine the MID file for any problematic characters If you manage to export to MIF/MID, you can also re-import it to a different table, and see whether this table errs the same way. And if nothing helps, request a new table that works from the supplier. ;-D Best regards / Med venlig hilsen Lars V. When I try MI shuts down. I can open the file in older versions of MI, but then there is a diagonal line in the browser window, which is not supposed to be there (the line can't be selected as an object). When I received the file the Charset in the xxx.tab file was "Neutral", if I change it to "WindowsLatin1" then I can open the file in MI 7.8, but the diagonal line is still in the browser window and MI crashes when I am zooming to view the entire layer. Any suggestions?. Thanks for any help.
