The Rowid function will do what you need.
if you want to start at 230 then just update the column with the expresssion
rowid + 229

Subject: MI-L Updating Columns

Hello, this would be an easy task in excel but I cant figure out how to
do it in MapInfo, please forgive me if it's a really simple question.
What I want to do is update a table column with consecutive numbers say
from 230-356. How do I get these numbers to automatically be displayed
in the column?
