You might try lowering your PC's video hardware acceleration (right click
desktop/properties/advanced... The next tab to go to depends on your video
card properties, for my ATI, the accelleration is under Trouble Shooting.

Subject: MI-L Moving lables crashes mapinfo

Hi all, very frustrated with mapinfo crashing(just being unavailable for
hours - leading to me terminating it) after I move a few labels that are
overlapping in a map window. This typically occurs when I have a raster
background image. I have learnt to turn it(the raster layer) off and this
mostly works, after which you can turn it back on. But now it has happened
again, despite this. Does anyone have this happen and is there a solution.
