Tony,

First of all I assume your database has X/Y coords in it? If so follow these
steps:

1. Perform a normal connection via DMBS (ensure you incl. the X/Y cols). I
always avoid live if possible and just refresh via mapbasic automatically or
manually from the button when required. But this should still work on live
anyhow.

2.Click [TOOLS]>[TOOL MANAGER] and load the DBMS Catalog program. Run the
program and create a catalog file (at this point it is empty).

3.To attribute the map catalog file within your database (you just created
it), click [TABLE]>[MAINTENANCE]>[Make DBMS Table Mappable]. The help button
on this dialog will instruct you, but normally use XY Coords for spatial
reference, the rest should be logical.

4.Now close all, and redo the original connection like in step 1, but this
time hit on column filter and note that there will be an object column instead
of the original X/Y cols available. Just make sure you include the object
col, and you should be away and running....

I hope this works for you,

Brad
