Does anyone know of an available mbx program that will
calculate the nearest distance of an object in one
table, to the the actual border or physical object
line of another?
The Distance Calculator that you can currently load in
MapInfo (v7.8) calculates the distance to the centroid
of objects.
I am trying to quickly show what the distance is from
cell towers to the closest fiber sheath. When a
sheath can be a few thousand feet long, the geographic
centroid of that sheath is almost never the closest
straight line distance to the tower.
Even a program that will measure the distance to the
nearest verticy or node on the line would be an
improvement.
