I use FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) from Safe Software, of which modular
components form the Universal Translator in MapInfo. Actually, there is a
Universal Translator in FME. I was just looking up the 'native MapInfo'
projection info within FME, and the documentation states that MapInfo's native
Lat/Long projection is in WGS84.

They're for most purposes the same datum.

I think the story is that whichever comes first in the MapInfo projections
file determines which "signature" you see. So, if you want to see WGS84 moves
its definition up in the mapinfo.prj file.

If that's wrong, or has changed in later MI Pro versions, I'd like to know.

  Subject: [MI-L] Converting from NAD83 to WGS84

I tried generating WGS84 coordintates (from NAD83) by extracting non-native
coordinates (and setting to WGS84) but the coordinates are the same as NAD83. I
really question this because when I set the non-native to NAD27, the
coordinates change accordingly.

Does anybody know how I can generate the coordinates for WGS84 from NAD83. I

m after the X,Y data most importantly.

  Thanks,

  Carlo
