Hi List,
I am attempting to classify some lakes into upland or lowland based on vegetation. Please understand that I am a relatively new user to MapInfo and I am unable to program in map basic. I intend to isolate the specific types of vegetation polygons that represent upland, combine them, then disaggregate them. This will be my vegetation mask. Then I am going to buffer my lakes individually by 100m. The biologist would like to apply a 50% rule, whereby if the buffer area total is made up of over 50% of the vegetation polygon types, then it can be considered upland. Originally, I had intended to query using "contains" but this is does not address the 50% rule. Any suggestions as to how I may address the 50% rule. I do not want to run "intersect" as the last attempt it was still running after 3 days and I don't have that kind of time. All help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much, Erica. _______________________________________________ MapInfo-L mailing list [email protected] http://www.directionsmag.com/mailman/listinfo/mapinfo-l
