Thanks to Kent Treichel who pointed out what I feared, and that was a case of "Hot Key Highjack" :)
The problem was (as usual) user level interferance. I had remapped the [Ctrl]+[M] sequance in my MAPINFOW.MNU file to change the mouse pointer to the Grabber Tool or "Hand" which allows you to manually reposition or "M=move" the mapper window. This keyboard shortcut sequence is one not otherwise documented in the factory production of the MI menu file so I used it. This was a result of discussions a couple months ago with Peter Horsbøll Møller and others about making the Mapinfo keyboard a little more useful. Peter, I've cc'd you as you and I had discussed off list about the potential of "other unknown quirks" with manipulating these keystrokes. Too bad these little issues can't be circumvented.
