Alistair et al: There have been concurrent use licensing deals from MapInfo in the past, even in the public sector. There is little interest from MI corporate unless you are starting with at least a 50 unit concurrent license with a substantial multiplier applied to unit costs. Usually you need to have at least 100-150 or more regular users to make it cost effective.
You are correct that this should be a great way to get organizations to increase their core skill group, the experience that we have had with this started with 50 concurrent users and has gone to 85, which means that there has been as significant growth in those using Pro for some portion of their usual daily routine. The dotnet version of pro should offer a much easier situation for MapInfo to monitor, so we may see this become a more common solution. I hope that this becomes a more standard opportunity, because it certainly offers an easy way for the technology to become more distributed within an enterprise. I hope someone from the Pro group is monitoring this thread to see the interest and potential value that might come from promoting such licensing schemes. Jim James C.
