There is a free little Mbasic porgram doing that. I'm very gratefull to this list for passing me this info, so I pass it further. The program is named Arrows. Its a free utility. You'll have to provide a table with origin and destination, then the corresponding flow. The program will add a new layer containing the arrows. You can then use these arrows in order to make a thematic maps, coloring the arrows to your liking (for example depending upon the characteristic of the migrants.. or the type of transport used in the case of dayly commuters..). You can play with several parameters in order to calibrate your arrows and their shapes. It's based on trial and errors.. some choices will give better results than others, but it allows many different options. One noyous thing is that there are no automated legends. So you have to add fake origins and destination in order to get a legend as well. But it works. It allows you to offset the arrow in order to draw bi-directional flows. I do not know the correct name of this type of maps but want to describe what I mean. I have some polygons representing cities and now I want to show the migration movements between these cities. This should be done with arrows. The thickness of these arrows should vary according to the value of migration. My Questions: What is the name of this thematic map? Is this possible with Mapinfo ?
