This problem was noticed earlier in the year, and appears to be a problem with the Directions Magazine list server (see http://www.gisnet.com/mapinfo-l/index.htm.) All I know is that they were looking into it, but I haven't heard anything recently and assumed that it was fixed. I don't believe I received your message either, but if the archive got it, then it made it to the server, but apparently didn't get through the distribution step.
It also appears to be missing from Directions Magazine's public message archives page too, so I think we still have an intermittent bug in the server. I'll let somebody at Directions know and hopefully they can track it down. - Bill Thoen On Fri, Jan 20, 2006 at 01:22:18PM +0800, SCISOFT wrote: > Listers > > Usually, I have faith in Outlook 2003, my ISP, and the mailserver handling > MapInfo-L but I sent an email comment Thurs 19/01 which is up there on the > Archive but didn't get to me. > > (Yes, I have searched my Outlook thoroughly - even with Windows Desktop > Search, Enterprise version). > > Has this happened to anyone else? > > Below is the reply I sent (may have been seen by all listers, not recd on my > account). > > IL Thomas > GeoSciSoft - Perth, Australia > > ---- > From: SCISOFT [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Thursday, 19 January 2006 3:24 PM > To: '[email protected]' > Subject: RE: [MI-L] SID raster to MapInfo vector > ---- > Raster to vector programs might have problems (even after you get over the > problem of reading the MrSid). > > MrSidDecode (or, the much faster utilities available, not from Lizardtech / > Celertem) will do SID to TIFF (etc). 4.5Gb - prepare for something (eg, > TIFF) huge, that most programs cannot even open. > > Since MapInfo Pro can handle the SID file, why not do the "vectorizing" > yourself by tracing the bounds that you want, onto a new layer?
