Another
indirect method, and perhaps not exactly what you would want to do, is to use
the (free) ExpertGPS which allows recording tracks direct to a map and will
save as the standard XML format for GPS (known as GPX). The GPX data standard has
been in use since 2002. ExpertGPS i9s lighter-weight (idownload, install,
licensing, disk space requirements) than MapInfo plus BlueMarble Geotracker.
It’s
worth looking at the Topografix / ExpertGPS websites - http://www.topografix.com/default.asp
and http://www.expertgps.com/default.asp
Access
2003 will be able to import the XML format (via a Wizard). As with all Access
imports, those import parameters established once, are then available for a
very simple import of the data format thereafter.

Subject: [MI-L] Off topic: GPS and
MS Access
Good
morning all
Anyone
know of any options for recording GPS data directly into MS Access rather than
to MapInfo? Manifold GIS previously had a GPS Tools module for this but
it is not compatible with current versions of MS Access.
