Greetings,
If you have version 8.0 of MapInfo Professional and MapBasic there are some new functions that may help make this task quite easy for you. There is the ObjectDistance(), function will which will calculate the shortest distance between two objects and the ConnectObjects() function which will draw a line between two objects that represents their closest or farthest points.
