Thank you Eric! I am at least happy to know that I didn't do something wrong. I would like to suggest that this "feature" be changed if possible. This makes it difficult to show the beauty of hotlinked aerials to people who might consider buying copies of MI Pro.

Steve and all,

I definitely remember the issue and as I remember it, the answer was and still is that ProViewer does not support DDE.  When you hotlink an item such as a tab file, it goes through the registry association of that file type. With Proviewer as the only MapInfo Professional variant installed, it will use the association that is stored at
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\tabfile

The subkey shell\open\command does the actual launch. The subkey shell\open\ddeexec lists what should be sent to the program as a DDE string if it is already running or after it is launched. For MapInfo Professional, this is "Open Table "%1" View Automatic"  which creates the behavior that you want.

I don't know (I could find out, of course) if the Proviewer Installer puts this DDE in the key but I don't think it would make any difference as the Proviewer Application does not have DDE support.

RE: [MI-L] Proviewer and Hotlinked MrSids

Yeah, MapInfo used to have this problem too, and Eric Blasenheim told me a
workaround which I have since forgotten.

If he's reading MI-L these days, maybe he will chime in with the right
setting.

Now had a chance to set up program and files on another computer. Every time
you click a hotlink to a DOQ it opens in another instance of PV??????
