Hi,

With our HP Inkjet 2800 we encouter sometimes problems with printing maps with hatches. On the monitor it looks fine (that is: transparent), but when we try to print the lay out window directly to the HP 2800 the hatched areas become full coloured areas (non-transparent). When we choose to save the lay out window as a *.tiff (and print the tiff-file afterwards on the HP 2800) the output is correct (hatches are transparent). The same goes for printing as PDF from the print menu in MapInfo: what you see (on your monitor) is what you get (on the printed map).

So, how come that printing hatched areas right from MapInfo to the HP 2800 isn’t  possible?

Sorry John, this is not an answer to you question…. But be prepared that sometimes life isn’t easy!

Cheers, Chris

Hello All,

Not wishing to come across to negatively but this is a pre-emptive email!!. We have just taken delivery of a HP Design Jet 800 plotter which I am planning to connect to our print server on Monday and I am expecting problems!

Has anyone got any experience of getting these printers to “talk” to MapInfo (we have version 8.0) any experience or warnings would be gratefully received.

Cheers,

John

BTW: Thanks to everyone who helped out with the stylistic tool on my last query worked great!
