This post made me really smile so hopefully you all can at least see why. Mr. Simmonds says:

Gone? If there is something that we can easily defend in terms of MapInfo Professional and MapBasic, is that we never take out a built in function or command! We even have a few functions that were changed between the first and second versions (1992) but the old ones were left in for compatibility with special translation code. Can any of you long timers identify these? There are 8 functions that now have new names but if our code sees that we are running a version 1 .MBX (anyone got one for testing?) we translate those functions into the new names.

Does anyone know how to extract the X1, Y1, X2, Y2 of a line to update columns, assuming that X1 and Y1 are the start of the line?
