If you are interested in hotspots, you might try using CrimeStat. It
can read and write to MapInfo and has a variety of hot spot techniques.
Hint---I usually specify the output as a shape file rather than a mif
file. I find it easier to open in MapInfo.

Crimestat is available FREE at
http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/NACJD/crimestat.html/

The manual contains a great introduction to hot spot analysis.

Hi Group:

I am quite new with Vertical Mapper and am doing a hotspot map. I am
using
'Triangulation with Smoothing' in Interpolation Method to create a
Population Density Map. The result I get seem to be correct except that
when
I add it to my MapInfo layers, it distorts my map. Can anyone please
suggest
where in my steps could cause this?

Thanks
