NMEA is for National Marine Electronics Association they are a staandards group found at www.nmea.org.  The GGA sentence is one of many  but most GPS manufactures export this one out of the device.  Contact your GPS manufacture information on what NMEA sentences are available as GPS devices are not all equal.  If you want to know more try a web search for "NMEA sentences" and find what you want.

You´ve been completely right after converting in decimals points showed up. Anyway if you have time one day you could maybe explain what nmea means or is and GGA.

Betreff: (RE: [MI-L] Created points are not shown on the map) is it WGS84?

A gps point collected nmea string like GGA looks like
$GPGGA,123519,4807.038,N,01131.000,E,1,08,0.9,545.4,M,46.9,M,,*47
WGS84 Lon and Lat is like
01131.000,E Longitude 11 deg 31.000' E
4807.038,N Latitude 48 deg 07.038' N

You would still need to convert to Deg decimal

Your example does not have a decimal point and seems to be out of range for utm

Subject: [MI-L] Created points are not shown on the map
Importance: High

Hello just a basic question. Christopher Brabante may already got this message.

I´m a total newcomer:
Why does the map not show my created points (they are GPS points and converted in decimal points like (+35457900 for e.g.) and I think I chose the right Longitude/Latitude Formate (wcs84).

Meanwhile, opening the layers control, and manipulating the "etiquete" or let´s call it label, I still didn´t see the symbols of the created points (it could happen that I use strange words to describe because I work with the spanish language version of mapinfo).

Does anybody know where the big problem is?
