The issue I described has been reported to MapInfo and
logged as bug T20233. They'll have it fixed by the next release if not
sooner.
Here's hoping it's sooner!

Subject: RE: [MI-L] MI 8.5 Copy/Paste issue-
Upon further investigation, I have isolated the issue
to only Polyline, Polygon, and Text objects. Point objects do not seem to
be affected. And, again, only with single objects. Multiple objects
pasted have always had this result.
I have done numerous test in versions 8.0 and 8.5 using
the same objects, on the same computer, and I stand by my assertion that,
in previous versions, when a single object of these types was copied
and pasted (with the the entire object displayed within the map window
to begin with), there was no change in the window
zoom.
In version 8.5, upon pasting the object, the map zooms
in to the object. This is a change in the MI program with version 8.5, and
is extremely frustrating for those of us doing cartographic work. So much
so that I may ask for my money back...

It's not just v8.5
6.5 does the same thing as well.
Also, if an object such as a polyline or polygon extends past the viewable mapper, if you copy/cut and paste, it zooms to the pasted object.
EXTREEEEEMLY annoying! Really makes ya want to shell out the bucks (money) for each successive upgrade huh?

Subject: [MI-L] MI 8.5 Copy/Paste issue
Hello-
Has anyone else noticed that in MI 8.5, when you copy and paste an object in a map window, it automatically zooms to the object that has been pasted? Previous versions always did this when the user copied/pasted multiple objects, but this seems to be a new "enhancement" -- and it's quite frustrating!
Is this an option I can turn off somewhere?
Thanks,
-Jason
