If you are using MI8.0, there is a "data/configuration" file & explanation on the knowledge base.

Subject: [MI-L] Bug in Universal Transverse Mercator FEET (NAD 27 for US)?

Listers,

Coincidentally I had two projects where I received data (list of X,Y points and a DXF file) in the above projection, Zone 10 for California and Zone 15 for Louisiana. After importing each they didn’t come into where they were supposed to. The California ended up in Nevada and the Louisiana ended up in the Gulf. The sources confirmed there wasn’t a false Easting. The California guy gave me the points in Lat/Long and they came in the area they were supposed to. I viewed the area in ArcVew, changed the projection to UTM meters, changed the display to feet and it matched the original data. Mapinfo is miss-calculating only in the X direction, the Y is fine. The projection in Meters seems to be OK.

Am I missing something or is this a bug?

Thanks,

Greg
