Clearing the "temp" folder was the cure . (Said with sound of palm
striking forehead!!!) Merely a co-incidence that it occurred at the
same time as the nVidia graphics hangup was roaming the world. Lex
parsimoniae wins again. Thanks to all who responded with this cure.
