Subject: [MI-L] Universal Translator Issues

"8.5 completes the translation but is completely meaningless. All that
comes through is point data all but two of which are at the same location."

I have had similar experience with universal translator and autocad files
and i found that the problem was the table boundaries were ridiculously
small. I.e the x,y co-ordinates might range from 0 to 10000 but the
boundaries were 0-10 so all the objects end up jammed in one location.

The fix is don't convert the autocad file directly into a .tab file,
convert it into a .mif then use a text editor to change the boundaries in
the .mif file, then import it into MapInfo. Yes this is a very tedious
process if there are a lot of layers in the .dwg file.
