For a fourth year university GIS class our team is developing a
management plan for a proposed Mountain Bike/Hiking trail in the north
end of Algonguin Park in Ontario. Our main objectives are to locate
suitable rest stops based on specified criteria (e.g. slope, view,
proximity to water, etc.) and to indicate suggested rest intervals along
the trail itself, by utilizing a cost/friction surface. The result will
be an interactive map provided for to the user to aid in a more
enjoyable recreational experience. In closing, I'm just curious to
whether anyone has any information on related applications, as for thus
far in our research we haven't come across any. Thank for your time.
