Hi Sharon,
I have not use the most recent PCCF for StatsCan, but have received similar
files from StatsCan that have way too much information in each column. I
have separated by converting the file into Excel and using the Tools > Text
to Column option. You can split of items in Files by spaces, commas, other
characters etc. You may have to do some manual splitting, but it does the
job.
I had the same problem where I had two files and one file had a space in
the middle of the postal code and one did not. What I did was create
another column in the file where there wasn't a space in the Post Code and
using Update Column option under Table, I added the space in the middle by
typing in the Value: spot
Left$(postal code, 3) + " " + Right$(postal code, 3).
