Dear MapInfo-L Folk, It is my pleasure to announce the posting of my "GIS in Mining and Exploration" course at http://www.ctmap.com/mapinfo/gis, This has been provided by myself, at no cost, and posted by Bill Thoen (with his customary graciousness) on the MapInfo-L FTP site. It was designed to be an online supplement to a semester course that I conducted last year. This was at the Kalgoorlie (Western Australia) campus of Curtin University. I have included all 14 weeks of lectures and accompanying documents, web-links, etc. There are also 14 weeks of exercises based on a CD-ROM dataset sold by the Canadian Geological Survey, teaching the basics of MapInfo as it pertains to mineral exploration. The web page was constructed in FrontPage 98 and this provided an excellent medium to produce a very content driven document. It was intended to be a dynamic course that built upon itself as it recycled into the second semester. However, I am no longer in Australia; I have been working and living in Hanoi, Vietnam for the last seven months. As I am no longer involved as directly in the mining industry, and I am no longer conducting the course, do not expect me to answer any queries about the web page. It is not a complete product but please accept it for what it is, warts and all. Take from it whatever you want - I know that I did a lot of 'borrowing' and acknowledged accordingly. Having learnt a good deal about web authoring from this experience, I have done another one for my company, BDT. It is finished and will be posted within a week or two. I will post the URL address to this mailing group once I know it. Anyway, that's it. If anyone posts me, it may be a month before I can reply. I am marrying my Vietnamese princess in a fortnight's time and will be on an extended honeymoon after that.
