Dear MapInfo-Lers,

Last night I had visions of '12 Monkeys' and a worldwide contagion of email
viruses being spread from my offices in Vietnam.

********Don't run happy99.exe**********************

I had big problems yesterday when we got invaded by a virus called HAPPY99.
It is a sneaky little devil that comes in the disguise of an email ( bearing
the same subject line as the real email that the infected person sent - me
in this case) containing a small executable called happy99.exe. It then
(unknown to you) will send a duplicate copy of all emails you send,
containing the virus . If you run this .exe file YOU WILL GET INFECTED. I
sent the list an email yesterday so it is important that if you have run it
that
you nip it in the bud quickly. We had 5 of us infected in no time and I
also had to ring around to all the people I had dealt with that day. The
virus slipped straight past our anti-virus software since it is so new. The
latest versions of the antivirus software will pick it up though.

Once again I apologise for this. It is a major annoyance.

Thanks to the many people who have contacted me to notify of the existence
of tis virus. You can stop now. My office PC network is clean again. We
are usually very careful about these matters, but this one got away.

As for the posted web page, it is safe to use. It was burnt on a CD before
Xmas. There are a couple of little glitches on several of the exercise
pages. Some of the graphics don't show up because of a
typo: instead of The_Exercises in the path the URL has the_exercises. I
will ask if Bill can fix it; he already has cleaned up some of my dirty
work. (Thanks to Dan Ryan for pointing that out).
