I've noticed a couple of postings about performing SQL queries against
native MapInfo tables in MapX. During the early days of MapX, any type of
native SQL engine support was not done because we believed that the MapX
container would be responsible for any queries to the database, and we
would just provide the capability to bind the results with a MapX layer.
This mindset has changed, mainly due to the input we have received from
customers like you. Therefore in MapX 4.0 we will provide support for the
ability to query (implementation has not yet been decided) a native .TAB
file. The next question will be, when can we expect MapX 4.0? We are
targeting Q3 (May, June) timeframe.
