For those who have had similar problems with pattern hatching on
HP DesignJet 2500CP printer, here is a round-up of the responses
I received. Thanks to all contributers, hope I've attributed correctly.

Summary of Problem:

The pattern fill is too dense, the different patterns end up virtually
indistinguishable, because there is insufficient spacing between the
pattern elements.

I don't know if this will help, but we at The National Museum of
Denmark have had many problems with the hp2500cp and ended
up with using windows nt 4.0, by which we cant use the cutter properly
or using the hp2000 htgl driver in windows95 and 98 (not postscript 3).
Try one of this and it might help. Go to the mapinfo.com techcenter and
read a lot on the subject.

Have you tried using the fills from the very top row of choices?
They're specifically made for large plots and scale differently.

I've found that unchecking the "background" box results in more widely
spaced pattern fills. It makes no sense to me, but it works.

specfill.mbx, which is available from the MapInfo-L download site.
