Although the PC Week articles provided some great exposure for MapInfo (as
well as GIS in general) to the masses, there were a few omissions that
probably lead to your comments regarding the pricing of our family of web
products posted recently to the L. I'd like to take a moment to clear
things up.
>From the inception of our MapXsite/MapXtreme line of web products we took
the "one size does not fit all" approach. We strived to offer multiple
products with different levels of features for different types of users.
And of course, different prices as well that we feel are in line with the
capabilities of each of the products. In the chart that accompanied the PC
Week article, they only listed our highest-end products - MapXtreme and
MapXtreme Java edition, and their list price of 24,495 dollars. The chart
didn't take into consideration that we offer products such as MapXsite
developer edition at a list price of 4,995. Or that you can purchase
MapXtreme licensed per user for Intranet usage for much less than 24,495.
In short, I invite anyone interested in deploying any type of GIS or
business oriented mapping application via the web to evaluate our
offerings, not just on price, but features as well. If you then still feel
that we don't have a product that meets your needs and budget, I'd like to
hear from you. Seriously. Drop me an email and let me know where the hole
in our product line is.
