Dear List Members,
I am a new user of both MapInfo and this list. I've been very impressed by the amount
of traffic on the list these past few days that I have been subscribed. I would
appreciate some help with the following two problems I've encountered in my initial
mapmaking efforts.
Thank you in advance for the help. Please feel free to respond either through this
list or directly to me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
1. ODBC Driver Configuration - I am using the HUD Community 2020 version of MapInfo,
which I believe is a specially packaged version of MapInfo v.3, on a Windows 95 PC.
When I try the 'Open ODBC...' command, the message 'There are no OBDC sources
available' is returned. I am trying to link to a MS ACCESS 97 database file through
the 32bit MS ACCESS ODBC Driver 3.50.342800 Any suggestions on how to make this
connection?
2. Merging Multiple Map Files - I am making a map of the U.S. Appalachian region which
consists of 13 states. The map files for these states are on three separate CD-ROMs.
I have saved the appropriate maps into .map files. I have also been able to save all
maps together in one file, but the dataview only contains data from the initial map.
The result being, for example, a pin map that only places pins on a third of the map
though data exists for all states. A 'join' seems to add columns of data to the end
of a row, yet what I seem to need to do is append data rows to the existing columns,
e.g. add new states to the existing dataview.
Again, I am a novice. I would appreciate any help, including that which may help me
better understand the problems I am facing.
Thanks,
Steve Shepelwich
