You can learn a lot by perusing the code that comes with MapBasic in
the mapbasic/samples/mapbasic directory. Also, there is a lot of
source code available on the MapInfo-L FTP site at
http://www.ctmap.com/mapinfo/files1.htm. In particular, I found the
KGM utilities a great source of ideas when I first saw it. Usually I
put "includes source code" in the file descriptions, so you can also
use that as a guide when searching the site.

You'll also see files here marked with an asterisk (*). This means
the link goes to an author's site and often you'll find additional
goodies on these sites in addtion to the file listed.

And of course, don't underestimate what you can learn from the folks
here. Several times I've asked a question about how to code
something and gotten completely unexpected, but correct, and
different, answers on how to do it. A prime example of that is in
the file currtime.zip (now at
http://www.ctmap.com/mapinfo/files1.htm#currtime.zip) in which there
are four different ways to calculate the current time in MapBasic
code in response to someone's question.

Happy hunting!
